The concrete industry has many special requirements that can be handled using magnets. The most obvious is the precast concrete panel industry.

In fact, any concrete product that is precast such as trench forms and prestressed concrete beams where the forms or moulds are usually made of steel and reused on a regular basis can benefit with the use of magnets.

We also find applications for magnets in high-rise buildings where the formwork is continually raised to form the next level as the concrete sets.

In all these applications the properties of magnets and magnetic products become particularly useful.

These properties are:

  • Hold to steel for easy positioning
  • Need no other system such as drilling and screwing to hold into place
  • Reusable
  • Can be designed to slip under specific force conditions to allow for sliding forms
  • If left in place will not destroy the concrete product when removed from the mould

The first product we designed for the concrete industry was the Stayput Ferrule Magnetic Base. It was specifically designed for the precast concrete panel industry. It attaches to the steel base plate onto which the concrete is formed and holds all steel ferrules and forms in place during pouring of the concrete. The integrity of the steel base plate is maintained as no drilling or screwing is necessary. The Stayput Ferrule is revolutionary as the ferrule slides onto the magnetic base and is held in position by magnetic fields on top and bottom.

We then developed some base plate magnets and made many modifications to standard concreting products to incorporate magnets.

Throughout this site you will see special links like this: magnetic flux. This is a link to the popup version of the site glossary, containing explanations of all the technical terms used. We suggest that after use you leave the glossary window open so it will be instantly available if you need to look up another word.

Think About It...

Neodymium Iron Boron permanent magnets, combined with some lateral thinking, could be the ideal problem solver. The high field strength of the Neodymium Iron Boron permanent magnets may have transformed a previously impossible application into the current best solution.

Investors required for Magnetic product development

Do you want to be financially involved with the development of new magnetic products?

We at International Magnetic Solutions are always involved in the development of new magnetic products to satisfy a never-ending list of applications. Sometimes we fund the development ourselves and sometimes the projects are funded by product champions from other companies.

In general however we end up with more projects than we can fund. So we thought that we would send out feelers to find out if there are people or companies that would like to be involved in magnetic product development.

We're not sure whether to fund the projects as individual products or to start up a projects development business.

I welcome any replies and comments.
